Birth Control...
BC can be a "hot" topic! Some people think it is a perfect answer to unplanned pregnancy and STDs. Some people don't. Some have reasons because of their faith that BC isn't a good fit.
Hope Pregnancy Center does not have birth control available and we do not make a referral for it. If you are looking to get a prescription of birthcontrol we will tell you that you should talk to your own doctor about it and to dig for more info on it to make a GOOD decision.
Emergency Contraception Pills (ECP), Plan B, and Preven R, are all names refering to the morning after pill. The morning after pill refers to a high dose of birth control pills that are taken within 72 hours of intercourse. They contain a synthetic progestin known as levonorgestrel, Preven R contains both progestin and estrogen (ethinyl estradiol)
Documented side effects from ECP include nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headach, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, breast tenderness, menstrual changes, and ectopic pregnancy. Contrary to popular arguments, ECP does not decrease overall pregnancies and surgical abortions. ECP has been available in Scotland since 1984, but pregnancy rates have not decreased and sexually transmitted infection rates have increased.
